Liverpool opened the road to go to knockout round! This Meyerside club beat FC Porto 4 – 1 on fifth matchday at Anfield Stadium last November, 28th. The Red’s new star Fernando Torres scored two goals on ’19 and ’78, followed by penalty execution by Steven Gerrard. Liverpool’s fourth goal was scored by Peter Crouch on ’87. The one and only FC Porto’s goal scored by Lisandro Lopez on ’33. The Reds’s victory against FC Porto makes competition in group A tighter. Whereas, on the other match Besiktas surprisingly defeat Marseille 2 – 1. All of four club in group A still have chance to get the ticket to the next round.

Liverpool must be able to defeat Marseille at Stadium Velodrome next two weeks. The captain Steven Gerrard who’s successfully proved himself as Liverpool’s most productive bomber with 22 goals on Europe Championship equals to Michael Owen, stated that it’s better for the team to think about victory on last Matchday. The main keeper Pepe Reina considered the match against Marseille as final match needs to be won. Reina firmly said that draw is not a satisfying result, and his teammates should go to Velodrome with one mission: to win the game!

Newcastle could do nothing when being defeated by Liverpool on their own base camp St. James Park Stadium. The Reds captain Steven Gerarrd played impressively for the whole match, seemed like he’s already forgot about England’s failure on Euro 2008. Gerrard scored the first goal on ’28, Not only that, he also gave contribution for the goals scored by Kuyt on ’46 and by Babel n ’66. Definitely, he is worthy for the man of the match!

MOURINHO FOR THE HOTSEAT?

FA finally dismissed Steve McLaren dealing with his failure to bring England national team to Euro 2008. It means, the position as the team manager is empty, just like a year ago. England mass media directly analyze who’ll be the team’s manager. There are some familiar names like Jose Mourinho, Martin O’Neill, Luiz Felipe Scolari, and Alan Shearer. So far, Mourinho is the most favorite.

Some foreign coaches have frankly showed their interest for the hotseat, including Fabio Capello and Marcello Lippi. Capello who had a fantastic record in a club level firmly stated his passion for coaching England national team.
